Osho Temitayo Michael, founder of Creator Gigs Africa, product strategist, and LinkedIn Top Voice, recently appeared on BusinessDay Live TV to discuss why more Nigerians are looking beyond traditional savings and exploring global financial markets as part of their long-term wealth-building strategy.

While many people know me for my work in technology, startups, creator economy platforms, and digital marketing, investing has quietly been part of my journey for years.
I began investing in global stocks and ETFs during my second year at university. Interestingly, my very first investment was funded by money I earned from selling a German Shepherd puppy and a Boerboel puppy to a fellow student. It wasn’t a huge amount, but it introduced me to an idea that has stayed with me ever since: earning income is important, but converting income into assets is what helps build long-term wealth.
That philosophy has remained with me throughout my career. Whether working in digital marketing, building software products, or founding Creator Gigs Africa, I’ve continued to view investing as one component of a broader financial strategy.
During the BusinessDay Live TV interview, I shared my perspective on why interest in global investing continues to grow among Nigerians. We discussed how technology has made international financial markets more accessible, why many investors are looking to diversify beyond a single currency, and the importance of distinguishing long-term investing from short-term speculation.
We also explored common misconceptions around trading, the role of risk management, and why continuous learning matters far more than chasing quick profits. Successful investing isn’t about predicting every market movement; it’s about developing good habits, making informed decisions, and remaining disciplined over time.
One message I hoped viewers would take away is that building wealth should never rely on shortcuts. Whether someone invests in global stocks, ETFs, commodities, or other financial assets, patience, education, and consistency remain some of the most valuable investments anyone can make.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this important conversation and to share my experience with a wider audience. I hope discussions like these encourage more people to approach investing with curiosity, responsibility, and a long-term perspective.
